Explosion of Impressions

Last month my Mom turned 70 and as you can guess I wanted to make something special for her.

What do you make for a 70-year-old that doesn’t take up space (as she recently moved to a small apartment) but is still something that she can remember getting on this special day?

I decided on the Hexagon Explosion Box from Simply Crafty SVGs:

First of I want to say, that if I have to go into details, this post is going to be waaaay to long, so I put a video at the end of the post so you can see all the goodies.

The box is made from AC Cardstock in Vanilla, Cranberry, Leaf, Kraft and Wave and decorated with patterned paper from Graphic 45’s “Times Nouveau” Collection.

I decorated the lid with several Prima flowers, Vinyl, enamel dots and different trinkets from my stash.

All the layers are decorated inside and outside and the follow pictures show a bit of it:

I made some of the panels into small pockets for the tags to fit in and wrote some details about my Mom on them. I also used the Silhouette Sketch pens to draw parts of lacing patterns on the tags as it’s on of her favorite crafts.

On the pockets I also drew crafting motifs all found in the Silhouette Design Store.

On the largest layer, I added some quotes and saying that I found in the Silhouette Design Store – all about crafting. Well the box theme is crafting actually 😀

On the smallest layer I added small labels on which I wrote a greeting from me, my Sister and the rest of our families.

I put the present inside the box in the middle and decorated the lid with knitting needles and a piece of knit also from the Silhouette Design Store. I also decorated with more vinyl lacing pattern and some gems.

  1. This is absolutely AMAZING! I bet your mom had a grand ol time looking at all the wonderful details and such. I enjoy all your creations! I’ve been absent from crafting for a few years. I lost my passion for it and I’m hoping to get that back soon. Blessings to you and yours.
