Feline Love

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been owned by cats. I’ve loved each and everyone of my feline friends over the years…..yeah….the hard thing about having pets is that you usually get older than them, so you can guess I’ve had to say goodbye to quite a few kitties.

I’ve got to say that I really like cats more than humans. Why? They are always there for you. If your sad, they comfort. If you’re not feeling well, they sleep beside you. They are always good for a laugh being silly and goofy and well….even if they seem to ignore you, they always love being around you.

Fun fact: The frequency of the cats purring, is actually healing and is why cats purr if they are injured. It works on us humans too. So always keep your kitty close if you’re feeling sick. Gives the term “Pet Doctor” a new meaning 😀

This is why I decided to make the new dog files from Simply Crafty Svgs into cat files. A simple tribute to my love of felines.

All is made from AC Cardstock and patterned paper from DCWV’s The Pets Stack.

Let’s start with the Dog with Shades Card kitty style:

The dog card is a freebie but I used the cat from the Cat Love Box Card and the fish bone is from the Silhouette Design Store design ID #92127

The way I made the card into a cat design, was simply to cut of the dog of the card and replace it with the kitty – welding it onto the card. Note that I used my Silhouette where designing is much easier than with the Design Space.

The Fishbone is made by simply making an offset of the bone and inking the edges.

I made the highligts on the ears, nose and shades with a White Sharpie Pen.

Cute, right?

Next is the Dog Dish – now a Cats Food Bowl: DSC_0003

This cutie is downsized to 75% of the original size and it’s still very easy to make.

What tickles me is how a fairly simple design can be so darn cute 🙂

The cat paws are found in the Silhouette Design Store design ID #116625

Then we have the darling Paw Box – now as a little cat paw:

Not only did I swith out the dog paw with a cat paw (same design as above) and downsize the box but I also turned it into a shaker box.

This was done by making closing the lid with a solid shape instead of an open and making 6 frames in a paw shapes by making an internal offset of the top paw shape and welding the two together. Then I made another paw shape – same size as the top shape and removed the holes to use it as background onto which I glued the 6 frames in a stack. Finally I filled in some confetti, glued the acetate onto the top paw shape and glued those onto the large paw shape and then I glued it all onto the frames to close up the shaker. I really hope you got that …. otherwise you are welcome to ask me 🙂

The shaker confetti is from Nuvo and Finnabair.

So lastly I made the Dog House – now a Cat Home:

This is also downsized to 75% of the original size and still cute as can be.

I switched out the sides of the house with fishbones instead of dog bones and used the cute kitty from the Cat Sticky Notepad Holder.

I used a quote I have on a sign in my home on the plague over the door:

All edges are inked with Distress Ink and eyes, ears and nose are highlighted with a Sharpie Pen.

Not showing, but I did put in a LED light in the house.

I didn’t get to keep them for long before my youngest son grabbed them all to display in his room. He is just as crazy about cats as I am 😀

Woah…..that just became a pretty long post – sorry about that. I hope you made it to the end and that you wanna leave me with a little comment on the project 🙂

Thank you so much for joining me today  – hope to see you again soon

  1. These are all so cute!! I could not live without having a cat or two. The only cat I have every been super close to passed away last year (he was very old) and it devastated me. I cried for 2 days straight. People told me “it’s just a cat” but he was more than a cat. He was my best friend. I still miss him!

  2. I feel just as you do! I’ve rarely been without sharing my life with at least one cat and usually more. I’ve loved each and every one. They are my friends and my family. I love how you turned dog files into cats and every single one is very special. Enjoyed your story and your beautiful cat projects!
