My Punny Valentine

Happy Sunday and YAY! – We almost made it through January (for me one of the longest months of the year)

Today I want to share with you a little something I brewed together last night. Just something that hopped into my head as I was trying to find new projects to make.

As I’ve said before – I’m soooo not into Valentines Day. And I still ain’t but……I just couldn’t help myself on this little fellow:

DSC_0014

The 3D To-Go-Coffee Cup is from SDS Coffee Break.

I made it from AC Cardstock in White and Chestnut and decorated it with a sleeve I made from Doodlebug Design Paper Cream & Sugar.

I also decorated the cup with some hearts – one is the Heart Zipper Ornament from SnapDragon Snippets that I made from AC Cardstock in Latte and decorated with Doodlebug Design Paper also from Cream & Sugar and used some grey and black shiny paper from the zipper. I just left out the back piece with the hole for hanging.

The other heart is just a duplicate of the Latte heart from above, where I wrote the sentiment with a Silhouette Sketch Pen in brown.

Now to hide it from that special someone who is going to receive this on Feb. 14th., because I love him as much as I do coffee. 😀

Thanks for joining me today and Happy Valentines Day to all of you who celebrate this day. 🙂

To the Great Beyond….

I just love how crafters inspire each other. I got the idea for this project from Trina Struckman from one of the papercraft groups I’m in on Facebook. She made a gorgeous version of the Weihnachtsglocke (Christmas Bell) from Sunshine Hobby Works. When I saw her post, I didn’t see the bells – I saw something completely different.

Do you remember the 1994 movie Stargate? I think it inspired a TV-series among other stuff? Anyways….it’s about this ancient ring-shaped device that creates a wormhole enabling travel to a similar device elsewhere in the universe. Now THAT was what I saw 😀

I made this from Granite AC Cardstock, grey Pearl cardstock and some glitter paper in Black. I used glow-in-the-dark vinyl for the signs and gold vinyl for the arrows.

Inside I added two rows of LED strips for light.

It was so much fun to make and all I really did was leaving out the bells.

It looks cool in the dark too 🙂

I think it will be a hit next weekend when my son has kids from his class over for a Birthday party since he requested a space/Halloween theme 😀

Thanks for stopping by and please let me know what you think of my wacky idea 😀

Fun, Fair and Fairytales….

Yay….I’m back on my blog. My absence has not been voluntary but due to a nasty fall last week that has left me with a sprained big toe so walking is not the easiest. So I’ve still been able to craft (only death or paralysis can keep me away from that) but I haven’t been able to shoot any decent pictures of my projects. But today….finally…..I was able with some help.

You’ve properbly seen one or two of my downsized houses and since Winter is still around yet Spring is around the corner, I thought I needed some end of winter/spring decor around the house. So I made these three downsized projects.

First of is the Asian Pagoda from SVGCuts Spring Blossom Kit

DSC_0007

This cutie is downsized to by 50% and that made it a bit more tricky to make even though I think it’s pretty easy. Just not much room for fat fingers in some of the corners 😉

I made it from AC Cardstock in Grapefruit, Peach, Pansy, Spinach, Pacific and Vanilla along with patterned papers from Graphic 45s Secret Garden and Botanical Tea.

All edges are inked with chalk ink pads from Prima and the tiny gems are from my stash.

This is totally cute in this small size ❤

Next I made the Ferris Wheel from Summer Street Carnival Kit:

This one is also downsized by 50% and I must admit that it was much easier and fun to make it in this small size or maybe I’ve just practiced a lot more since last time I made it in full size.

I used AC Cardstock in Grapefruit, Grass, Coffee, Banana and Vanilla along with patterned paper from Graphic 45s Time To Celebrate.

I inked all edges with chalk ink pad from Prima, used hibachi skewers for the wheel and the carts and used some Doodlebug Sprinkles as embellishment.

I originally wanted to install lights in this but thought about it and not everything I make has to have lights 😀

Finally I made the Castle from Dreaming Trees Enchanted Winterland Bundle:

Like the two other projects, I downsized this one too by 50% and it didn’t make it any less cute 🙂 It was a bit tough to reach into some of the places and gluing down the middle building to the large tower, but otherwise it just went together like a charm.

I used AC Cardstock in Grapefruit, Turf, Ocean and Pansy along with patterned paper from Graphic 45s newest collection Fairie Dust and Best Creation White Glitter Paper.

I inked all the patterned paper edges with Chalk ink pads from Prima and found some small pearls to stick and glue on tooth picks for the flags and roofs of the towers.

In this one I have installed light and I went for the “Winter-is-over-and-the-snow-is-melting-in-Fairie-Land” kinda look 😀 I think I succeeded 🙂

Tomorrow I’ll be back to show you a project that I finally managed to finish and that is something out of this world 😉

Thanks for visiting today – hope you’ll come back tomorrow to find out what I’ve been up to 😉

Carnival, Shrovetide or Fastelavn….

…..a dear child has many names 😉

This is the next celebration here in Denmark. It usually falls in the School Winter Holiday week 7 and is celebrated mostly by children. It wasn’t always so, but that’s another story – Google will tell you all about it. It’s actually quite interesting 🙂

Fastelavn or Carnival is celebrated by dressing up and going house to house singing a little song about getting buns (special cake-type bun usually a Danish 😉 ). If the kids don’t get a bun, candy or money, they will make trouble. It’s kinda like Trick or Treating.

The homes are decorated with Fastelavnsris which are bouquets of Willow branches, decorated with paper cats and colorful paper strips. The story about the Fastelavnsris is that if the parents sleep to late on Fastelavn morning, the children can whip them with it – yikes!

Another fun tradition is “Beat the cat of the Barrel” A barrel filled with candy (in the old days they put a living cat in there – the monsters!!!) and hung from the celling and the kids take turn beating on it with a stick (kinda like a baseball bat) until the barrel breaks and all the candy falls out. The kid who breaks the barrel is crowned Cat King and the kid that makes the barrel fall to the ground is growed Cat Queen.

Oh wow….that was a long explanation of Fastelavn…..and now I get to the point 😀

I made some decor for Fastelavn this year…..it’s been a while since I’ve done that but I just had to. It spoke to me 😀

The gorgeous Masquerade 3d Embellished Mask from Jodi G. Warner of SVG Attic and SnapDragon Snippets. (find it in Silhouette Design Store or at SnapDragon Snippets)

DSC_0004

This was great fun to make especially decorating it 🙂

It’s made from AC Cardstock in Robin’s Egg and patterned paper from Graphic 45’s Midnight Masquerade. I also used glitter paper in pink and turquoise.

DSC_0008

I decorated it with some matching flowers from Prima that happened to be in my stash along with some different matching ribbons and rhinestones. I really got to see what I have stashed away, looking for the right embellishments – but that’s ok because it sparks new ideas 😉

I feared that the mask would be hard to assemble but it just flew together – no trouble at all.

So now I have the first piece ready for February when the “Carnival comes to town” 🙂

Thanks for visiting – hope you made it all the way through the post and didn’t get lost in my ramblings of Fastelavn 😀

The Post-Christmas-blues…..

….yup! There is such a thing. I suffer from it BIG time! That creative void or vaccum where you don’t know what to make or create. Seems like you been totally busy and now….it’s quiet. Totally blank.

I sat down last night – tired from being up way too late New Years Eve and really really lazy. I started going through different projects I could create (I do that sometimes – kinda planning ahead) and there it was!

The cute 3D Snow Globe Box from the JGW Snow Flurries kit (also found here in the Silhouette Design Store) and I decided to make my own version of it 😉

DSC_0002

All I really did was make an octagon-shaped hole in the middle and layer it with some vellum so light can shine through. Then I too one of the snow flakes from the Snow Flake Hanging Card from the SDS Ornament kit (or design #22717 in the Silhouette Design Store) and cut out 4 of them and then glued them side to side to make a 3D snow flake to hang in the middle of the Snow Globe.

Finally I put in a color shifting LED light into the box and voila!

DSC_0008

I do think it’s fun when imagination runs wild and you can come up with new ways to make things 🙂

Thanks for joining me today – I hope you came into 2018 with happiness and a big bang 😀 and look forward to showing you lots of new projects 🙂
