Singing in the Rain

Way back when I was a little girl, I used to watch old musicals videos (Betamax πŸ˜€ ) at my Grandma’s house. I loved those old movies with the singing and dancing – they made it look like the most natural thing in the world. Having a bit of heartache? – Sing it out! Feeling happy? – Show it in a dance!

The one movie that is still very clear to me, is Singing in the Rain with Gene Kelly. Man! He could dance and sing! And that great scene where he is doing just that in the rain – amazing! I later on learned that with Gene there were usually no second takes. He just went in, did his thing and voila – perfect. That is not something you see nowadays! Sorry….I’m rambling πŸ˜€

This glorious movie is what came to mind when I saw the cute newΒ Umbrella 3D hanging Ornament from SnapDragon Snippets.

I made it in AC Cardstock in Vanilla, Black, and Charcoal and added panels made from Graphic 45 patterned paper “Vintage Hollywood” collection and wood grain embossed AC Cardstock in Kraft for the handle. I also decorated with some grey enamel dots from My Minds Eye.

I also made one more colorful – the movie wasn’t in Black and White πŸ˜€

This one is made from AC Cardstock in Black, Peacock and Charcoal with patterned paper from Graphic 45 “Vintage Hollywood” and wood grain embossed AC Cardstock in Kraft. The dots are from Doodlebug Design.

Well the umbrella can’t tell the story on it’s own, so I had to make a Lamp Post too. This was a bit more tricky but I ended up deciding on the post from theΒ Carousel Centerpiece by Cyndy Gustashaw also from SnapDragon Snippets.

I made it from AC Cardstock in Black, Vanilla and Banana and added some self-made embossed panels to the base…..

….and to the top. I made an extra piece for the Lamp glass to rest on. This is made from the bottom piece of a coin from theΒ Gold Coin Boxes that I glued shut and added a narrow panel strip which I embossed. Just to make it look a bit more like the real thing.

I also added two extra segments in the top ball (Lamp Glass) to make it more round.

Finally I added Gene – or a Silhouette of Gene Kelly (that I found online and traced) onto the Lamp Post and the scene is set:

I seriously wish I had access to a professional photo studio so I could add a backdropΒ  and maybe some rain….maybe next time πŸ˜€

Thanks for joining me today – I hope you like my wacky idea. It was so much fun to make.

Mother’s Day in the Garden

Hello, happy Sunday and happy Mother’s Day.

There wasn’t a shadow of a doubt about what I wanted to show you today as it is Mother’s Day. The only thing that teased me, was what to choose as SVGAttic and SnapDragon Snippets has so many wonderful Mother’s Day files to choose from.

Not that my own Mother doesn’t enjoy the garden, she just has lots of other hobbies but I know a lot of Mothers out there thrive in the green and loves to get dirt under their nails, so I went with a garden theme.

And this is what I came up with:

DSC_0006

First of is the 3D Garden Hat that I made from AC Cardstock in Brown Sugar and Straw along with patterned paper from Graphic 45’s “Botanical Tea” collection and two small silver colored eyelets.

I also decorated it with some Prima flowers from my stash in coordinating colors and a butterfly also from Prima.

This hat is very easy to make so it’s perfect for everybody both beginner paper crafters and the more advanced.

Next is the 3D Garden Spade:

DSC_0008

This one is also very easy to make and it’s so realistic,Β  I fear somebody’s going to bring it into the garden for shoveling πŸ˜€

I used AC Cardstock in Vanilla and Bazzill Bling Cardstock in Tungsten along with patterned paper from Graphic 45’s “Botanical Tea” collection.

I also tied some pink twine on the handle.

Then I made a flower in a pot:

DSC_0011

This is a somewhat fantasy kind of a flower inspired by Hydrangeas.

For the flower itself I used Β½ styrofoam ball on which I pinned several small flowers from theΒ Flower Five Petal Leaf Cluster cut out in Graphic 45 patterned paper (Botanical Tea) As flower center I added small sequins.

The ball is then glued or pop-dotted onto a large flower from theΒ SDS 3D Cake Box Kit (without the candle) cut in AC Cardstock in Bubblegum. Then I cut out some leaves from theΒ Flower Five Petal Leaf Cluster in Cricket AC Cardstock and glued them underneath the flower and placed it onto the pot.

TheΒ Flower Ball Topiary 3D Pot is made from Vanilla AC Cardstock and decorated with “Botanical Tea” paper. For filler I used some Spanish Moss. Isn’t it cute?

This project is for the bit more advanced crafters but I really encourage everyone to try it πŸ™‚

Last but not least I made the adorableΒ Tea Cup 3D Container also from SnapDragon Snippets:

The cup is cut from AC Cardstock in Vanilla and decorated with Graphic 45 patterned paper “Botanical Tea”. TheΒ Tea Bag Tag is the small in the set and is cut from Graphic 45’s paper and decorated with a small chipboard tag from Graphic 45’s “Time to Flourish” collection and tied onto the cup with a length of scrap floss. Finally I added a Prima butterfly and filled the cup with sweets (chocolate covered roasted almonds)

This cup is rather large so if you’re not into spending a fortune on candy (like I did), you can fill some tissue paper into the cup first for filler πŸ˜‰

And all together now πŸ˜‰ :

So what do you think of this project? Let me know in a comment πŸ™‚

Thanks for visiting today – I hope to see you again real soon ❀

Tiki Party Fun

Slowly but sure…..Spring is turning into Summer and before we know it, we’ll be having BBQ’s, Pool Parties or Beach fun again….YAY! Can’t wait. Long for that hot summer sun, blue skies and cool breeze while I sip my Mojito on the porch πŸ˜›

I really need to have a Summer Party and especially a Tiki Party and even though I haven’t planned one yet, I made decorations πŸ˜€ That is so me! Maybe I have to settle with having these to decorate my house instead πŸ˜‰

To start with I made the cute and funΒ Tropical Banner from SVGCut’sΒ Tiki Party kit:

DSC_0006

I made it out of AC Cardstock in Oregano, Olive, Key Lime, Scarlet and Melon. The ink I used is Ingvild Bolme from Prima and the small dots are from Doodlebug Design.

This one is downsized by 50% to match the size ratio of the rest of the things I made πŸ™‚

Next is theΒ Tiki Bar from Simply Crafty SVGs:

DSC_0008

This fun and very cool bar is made from AC Cardstock in Chestnut, Brown Sugar, Melon, Scarlet, Rouge, Oregano, Peacock, Vanilla, Rain, and Coffee along with patterned paper from Graphic 45’s “Safari Adventure”

I inked all the edges with Ingvild Bolme Ink pads and used a couple of Palm Leaves (Design ID #1696) and Hibiscus (Design ID #62344) from the Silhouette Design Store to decorate the Tiki Bar Sign.

Then I added a LED Color shifting Tea Light inside but that is not that visible in daylight.

Then I made a couple ofΒ 3D Tiki Torches from SnapDragon Snippets:

DSC_0014

These I downsized by 50% but they are still rather large compared to the bar πŸ˜€

They are made from AC Cardstock in Black and Brown Sugar along with patterned paper from Graphic 45’s “Safari Adventure” and some gold Pearl Paper. I made both sizes that comes with the file.

And there is more……

Here it’s theΒ Palm Tree 3d Nut Cup Place Card also from SnapDragon Snippets:

DSC_0010

This one is made from AC Cardstock in Brown Sugar, Chocolate, Chestnut, Oregano and Keylime along with patterned paper from Graphic 45’s “Safari Adventure”. I also used Ingvild Bolme Ink pads on this one.

I made it as large as possible on the mat but kept the size of the hole for the treat cup.

To make it look like a pool, I made some Blue Jell-o in the treat cup and added a little ….Ehm….surprise….

Finally I made a Tiki Shaker Bag from the Tiki Card and Hibiscus Gift Bag from Bird’sΒ Club Tropicana Collection:

DSC_0016

I adore this Tiki ❀

The bag is made from patterned paper by Graphic 45 “Safari Adventure” and the flower and Tiki are made from AC Cardstock in Chestnut, Rouge, Scarlet and Melon.

Then I filled some glitter and confetti into the shaker in green and gold colors and used some raffia as handles.

The bag and Tiki are sized down by 50%

Isn’t he fun?

Here is the whole lot together:
