More Christmas in July

I want to show you a Christmas project I just made. Yes…..I want in on that Christmas in July too 😉

I’ve been meaning to make this one for a looooong time, but as you know, Jodi keeps putting awesome stuff out there so I got distracted, but now I finally succeeded.

The 3D Church Card Holder from the JGW Colonial Christmas kit:

I made the Church in AC Cardstock in Vanilla and decorated with Graphic 45 papers from the Christmas Carol Collection.

I inked all the edges with Chalk Ink from Ingvild Bolme and added a poinsettia from Prima to the front of the Church.

Now it’s ready come Christmas time for all the Christmas cards coming in from near or far……

….or simply as a Christmas decoration with lights in it.

Seashore

Hello and a very happy Sunday to you – thanks for joining me today.

I went to the beach today. I normally do not go to the beach, because I hate all the sand that is very hard for a walking impaired person, like myself, to walk in. I don’t like swimming in the ocean either because of all the animals (though they are adorable on film) that swim or live in the water.

But I went to the beach today to get some good pictures of my latest project.

I was very much inspired by my last project when making this – because I thought the Beach house was laking a boat, so my first impulse was to make the cute 3d Rowboat from the new Grab the Bait kit.

I made this in AC Cardstock in Dark Kraft, Bayou, Mint and Pool and decorated it with patterned paper from Prima Marketing Inc “Seashore”.

It’s a very straightforward project to make with a great tutorial from Jodi the Designer. I inked all the edges with matching chalk ink pads also from Prima and tied a bit of hemp onto the front of the boat as a hawser.

But I didn’t stop here because I have had my eye on the adorable 3D Birdhouse Gable Style from the Liberty Lane Kit and now I knew what to do with it 🙂 My initial idea was to make it as a housewarming gift for my Mother who just moved but now all I could see was…..a Boathouse.

It’s made from AC Cardstock in Vanilla, Bayou and Dark Kraft and decorated as the boat, with Prima Marketing Inc. “Seashore”

I did make a few changes on the Birdhouse/Boathouse.

First of all I deleted the small hole for the perch pole. Then I added a hole for the door on both the house and the panel. Then I created a kinda entry way around the door (just downsized the back panel) and made hole for the door. This was done using my cameo and the make/release compound path features. The door is made from a rectangle and a circle I welded together on the Cameo and the large and tiny window I snatched from Cyndy’s “Cabana Milk Carton” from the CG Under the Sea kit. Then I tied some hemp rope around the entry way, added some bling and a seahorse to the front of the house. And of course a tiny door handle.

I embossed the roof tiles with a Darice Wood Grain Embossing Folder and used three different papers for the raised panels on the side of the house. Finally I added some vellum behind the door and the top window and left out the bottom reinforcement piece, so it was easy to put in a LED tealight. Now it looks like somebody’s home a night.

And then I went to the beach and took a couple of great shots of the whole project.

I really hope you like my version of the Birdhouse – now Boathouse and the little Rowboat. Both projects are downsized to 75% of the original and are now a wonderful reminder of my hometown of Grenaa located right out to the ocean. Hmmmm…. Sonja’s lighthouse would be awesome next to these 😉

The Beach House

Hello – so nice of you to drop in today 🙂

No question that summer has hit – here in Denmark we have the warmest and driest in like forever, so lots of folks are headed to the beach as soon as they get the chance. Well….I’m not really into the beach. I mean it’s beautiful and all but I pass at the chance of getting sand in every crack and I like to swim without any crabs or fish in the water. Yes I am a pool person. I do enjoy going to the beach to take pictures and the view of the water has always had a calming effect on me. Maybe because I was born close the sea? I don’t know. Now I live somewhat far from it (can’t get that far from the ocean here in Denmark 😀 )

Ok – get to the point Helle!

When I saw the new cute bundle Nautical Nights from Dreaming Tree, I totally fell in love with the adorable Beach House. And I had just the paper for it – Seashore from Prima Marketing Inc.

I used AC Cardstock in White and Dark Kraft to make the house, roof and dock and decorated with the patterned paper and some small fun trinkets from my stash.

I did make a few changes as I wasn’t too fond of the big anchors, so I switched them out with the Shell from the Scalloped Shells Tea Light Holder freebie and the Shell from the Nautilus Luminary (on the back – sigh! ) I also downscaled the entire house to 75%

I tried getting a few night shots – not easy as it doesn’t get dark until pretty late in the summertime but here are a few so you can see (or just imagine) the light switched on inside 😉

I also played a bit with the darling Fish Scales Lantern Freebie.

I used AC Cardstock in Shamrock along with patterned paper from Graphic 45 – Voyage Beneath the Sea, striped peach colored vellum and gold vellum.

I changed out two sides of the lantern with the adorable seahorse from the Seahorse Box and added black enamels dots as eyes and some bubbles dots here and there. Finally I tied some raffia onto it as a handle. Cute right? Oh and this one is also downscaled to 75%

Steampunk Teapot Luminary

Hello – so glad you have time to visit me today.

I want to show you the project I just entered in Dreaming Tree Summer Challenge – the Steampunk Teapot Luminary:

For this project I used AC Cardstock in Chestnut, Peacock, Peach, Grapefruit, Black and Grass along with patterned paper from Graphic 45 “Imagine”, gold vellum, gold pearl paper and printable vellum.

The project consists of several Dreaming Tree files.

The Teapot itself is from the Cozy Kitchen SVG Bundle. I removed the patterned on the front of the pot and added the clock and gears instead using several techniques on my Silhouette Cameo like (un)grouping, welding etc.

The top and bottom in Peacock are embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder with cogs and gears and then I rubbed some Opal Magic Wax in Turquoise Satin from Prima on them.

The Clock is from Dogwood Mantle Clock from the Making Time SVG Bundle. I used only the clock itself and added some gold vellum behind it. As my clock work is too large to be hidden behind the black clock face, I decided to put in a piece of cardstock to block the light from within in the middle to make it look a lot better. The light still shines through the outer golden rim.

On the back of the teapot, I put in the hatch from the clock for easy access to the light source and to change the battery in the clock.

The cogs and gears are from the Tick Tock Clock from the Making Time SVG Bundle and I used only these. They are made larger or smaller to fit my needs and I put gold vellum underneath where I’d made holes for the light to shine through.

The Butterfly is from the Butterfly Paper Sculpture from the Paper Sculptures SVG Bundle and I switched out the flowers on the wings with cogs and used a piece of printable vellum to add a transparent ombre color scheme.

Finally I made lots of small and larger roses from the Floral Arrangement from the Alluring Florals SVG Bundle. I rubbed the edges of the ones in cardstock with Aged Brass Metallique Wax from Prima and added gold glitter to all of them including some on the leaves as well – oh and on the butterfly too 😉

Lastly I decorated the whole project with different cogs and gears from Tim Holtz along with several trinkets from my stash.

This was such a fun project to make – from getting the idea (I was inspired of the darling teapot clock on the Graphic 45 paper) to finally executing the whole thing. I just love when an idea succeeds 🙂

Tropical Paradise

……is where I just returned from two days ago.

Hello to you and Happy Sunday. I’m trying to rest from our fabulous Summer Vacation to the Balearic Islands in Spain – more specific Mallorca. Ahhhh it was fun and HOT.

I’ve tried to recreate the feeling in this project I’m about to show you. I’m starting to long back just looking at it – sigh.

First I made the Pineapple Box from SVGAttic’s JGW Tropical Haven kit:

I used AC Cardstock in Lemon, Canary, Squash, Moss, Leaf and Pine and inked all the edges with Ingvild Bolme Chalk Ink. I also used 72 mini glitter brads for the scales.

Such a fun project but time consuming due to the scales on the Pineapple.

The Pineapple is a box and the lid lifts off and then…..

…..it doubles as a drink – Mmmmmm Piña Colada.

The Parasol Straw Slider is part of the cute JGW Tiki Luau kit from SVGAttic and features two more cute sliders…..

……the Sun and the Sea Turtle Straw Sliders. Cute aren’t they?

The 3D Coconut Drink is made from the same file as the Pineapple but I left out the top and the scales. Instead I embossed the panels with a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and inked all with Ingvild Bolme Chalk Inks. The cardstock is AC in Cheastnut for coconut and Lemon, Goldfish, Moss and Leaf for the sliders. Both straws are from AC.

Next I made a pair of Flip-flops also from the JGW Tropical Haven kit:

These are made from AC Cardstock in Fireberry, Goldfish, Moss and Lemon and decorated with patterned paper from Carta Bella “Summer Splash”.

All edges are inked with Ingvild Bolme Chalk Inks and the two red brads are from my ever growing stash.

The Flip-flops are also boxes so treats or gift cards can be placed inside. They are very easy to make.

No tropical paradise without flowers……

……so I made the Lei from the JGW Tiki Luau kit.

I wanted it to be very colorful to match the awesome paper from Carta Bella, so I used AC Cardstock in Fireberry, Pool, Blossom, Lemon and Moss for it. I found some metallic colored beads in my stash to use as spacers.

This was the easiest of the all – just make the flowers and leaves and tread them onto the string – voila! Cool children’s project I would think.

Finally I made a card to go with rest of the things:

This Stay Cool Tropical Box Card is also from the JGW Tropical Haven kit and is made from AC Cardstock in the same colors as the rest of the project and decorated with the patterned paper from Carta Bella.

I get so many withdrawals just looking at it.

Yes – I cheated and made the whole thing in advance – come on…..nobody makes this much in two days. Ehm…..almost nobody…..hmmmm I kinda did. Oh well…..I’m a nut 😉

Be a Unicorn

I am ashamed! Very ashamed of myself. Because I didn’t send a good friend of mine something for her Birthday last week. It was in my calendar but I’ve been so busy getting ready to go on vacation, that I didn’t have time to make her anything and of that I am ashamed.

So better late than never, I’m going to send her this Unicorn Rainbow 3D Box Card….

….cause I know she loves unicorns as much as I do and this will put a smile on her face and maybe….just maybe….she’ll forgive me for being so late.

I made the darling card with AC Cardstock in various colors to match the Graphic 45 paper (Fairy Dust) that I used and then I sprinkled some fairy dust in dots here and there for magic and good luck.

The sentiment says Congratulations in Danish and it’s written on the Magical Layered Banner

It’s a very fun card to make and it won’t be my last 🙂
