Halloween Freebies

We’re getting very close to the big day (for some of us the best day of the year), Halloween.

I’ve been very busy making decorations for this spooky event, but I didn’t pay mush attention to making treat boxes and such, so I decided to look around and see if I could find some fun Halloween Freebies to use – and boy was I in luck.

Halloween Card

This fun and festive Halloween Card is a freebie from Dreaming Tree and awesome for both kids and adults.

I made it with AC Cardstock and patterned paper from DCWVs “Curiosities” (the stocking) and a piece of Black gloss paper from DCWVs “Black, White, Cream” stack (dress and heal of boot).

I don’t have any stamps to add a sentiment to the card so I just left it empty. It gives me the opportunity to use it for a birthday  instead.

I really love the matching envelope too made in AC Cardstock.

Witch Hat Treat Cone

This next freebie is also from Dreaming Tree. 

The Witch Hat Treat Cone is a genius little treat holder/decoration and I made it with AC Cardstock and DCWVs “Witches Brew” stack paper. The buckle is made from Tim Holtz’ Metallic Kraft paper in gold.

Unfortunately I did not have any string with wire in it, so I use a piece of Ideaology tinsel ribbon for the handle.

Adorable, right?

Gravestone Treat Box

This spooky freebie is from Simply Crafty Svgs.

The Gravestone Treat Box could also double as decoration and is very easy to make.

I used Bazzill Bling Cardstock in Tungsten and DCWVs “Ghost Stories” paper along with two tiny red gems for the spiders eyes.

I also used Distress ink for all edges and a distress tool for the panel edges for a more sinister look.

Creepy Coffin Box

These two Creepy Coffin Boxes are also from Simply Crafty Svgs and they are in the same freebie file. It’s simply just a matter of switching out the front panel of the box.

One is with a spiderweb  and this is made from AC Cardstock and patterned paper from DCWVs “Curiosities” along with black pearl paper for the spider.

I also used a black Prima Gem for the spiders butt and Prima White Chalk ink for all the edges.

The box with the cross is made from AC Cardstock and patterned paper from DCWVs “Ghost Stories” stack.

I also used a cross shapes rhinestone figure from my humongous stash and inked all edges with the same white Prima Chalk Ink.

Both front panels are attached with 3D glue Dots to give some more dimension.

Black Cat Treat Box

This spooky Black Cat Treat Box is, like the two previous freebies, from Simply Crafty Svgs and what a charmer!

I made it with AC Cardstock and patterned paper from DCWVs “Curiosities” stack.

I used a white Sharpie to highlight the nose, ears and eyes and used some floss for the whiskers.

I used Distress Ink and Chalk Ink for the edges.

I thought I was being a genius and use acetate for the mouth opening…..that is until I saw that Sandy from Simply Crafty Svgs already did that with hers 😀 So much for being brilliant LOL!

Teal Pumpkin Box

….in orange 😀

As Mary from SVG Cuts, the designer of this adorable little Pumpkin Box, explains on her blog, this box (originally made in a teal color) lets people know that you have non-food treats to give to Trick or Treaters. What a great idea! No questions on whether you are allergic or sensitive to sugar….and believe me….those kiddos get more that enough sugar for a lifetime on a Halloween night 😀

I made mine in orange AC Cardstock and teal vellum. All edges are inked with Distress Ink and I used a tiny piece of ribbon to tie it together on top.

I will use mine as a little luminary but small treats – non-food or otherwise – are perfect inside too.

Spiderweb Doily

This rather simple Spiderweb Doily is actually very usable. Used in the original size it’s a great place mat and decoration for the wall. If you downsize it, you can use it for coasters or for a Halloween card.

I chose to use it as a place mat and I cut it out of AC Cardstock and inked it with Chalk Ink.

Imagine a dining table with these and lots of creepy food – perfect!

(the Pumpkin Spice Latté was very delicious 😉 )

Magic Hat

“When Witches go riding, and black cats are seen,

Ohhhh how I love that poem! It sets the perfect mood for a spooky Halloween night and it is just the mood I want you to be in right now……. (add a little howling of the wind and maybe some wolfs or thunder too 😉 )

Oh darn…..one of the Witches dropped her hat 😮 and what is this sorcery???? It levitates!!!

This out of this world cool Hovering Witch Hat from Simply Crafty Svgs is made from AC Cardstock in Black and decorated with papers from DCWV Inc. – “Le Noir” stack, “Ghost Stories” stack and “Curiosities” stack.

I also used lots of flowers and leaves from Prima and trinkes from my stash to embellish the hat along with a few spiders 😉

And what is the sorcery that makes this Magic Hat levitate?

A cleverly hidden box underneath the hat, also perfect for storing treats 😉

This hat is so easy to make it’s almost magic and would be perfect for treats, for small presents or even (if  you downsize it) for place cards 😉

Remember these lyrics? If you do, you’ve definitely seen the Musical “Little Shop of Horrors” starring Rick Moranis, Steve Martin and Bill Murray. By far one of my favorite Musicals 😀

So you can imagine when I saw the awesome creation of Audrey II by Jan Hunter – I just had to scrap lift it and Sandy of Simply Crafty Svgs made it very easy.

Presenting: Audrey II (Venus Flytrap SVG File):

I had so much fun making the murderous little plant. I used AC Cardstock and patterned paper from DCWV Stacks Curiosities and Ghost Stories.

The leaves and the tongue are embossed with Embossing folder from Crafters Companion and Sizzix and all edges plus teeth and embossing are inked with Distress Ink in matching colors.

The plant sign is from American Crafts and I used vinyl for the text….it even has the bloody fingerprint from Seymour 😮

Finally I filled in some Spanish Moss in the pot and ….TA DAAAA…..Two-y was born (again)

This might be my only Halloween decor this year…let’s see if I have time to make some more and find the space for it.

I’ve seen several Audrey’s made lately – all look fantastic ❤

So Long….Farewell

Hello 🙂

This post is a copy of the one from the SVG Attic Blog – a post to say goodbye to the team and to SVG Attic which sadly are closing the store. I am NOT stopping blogging or paper crafting 🙂 Just so you know.

Unfortunately every good thing must come to an end and being part of the SVG Attic Inspirational Team has definitely been a very good thing for me. I have really enjoyed making projects almost weekly (as I have a somewhat problem by controlling myself), coming up with new ways to put the files together or simply remaking some of the gorgeous files that flowed from the designers.

It is very sad to say goodbye to this, to my team mates – my “family” but I know we’ll keep connected somehow and I’m thrilled to have learned that the files get to live on in the Silhouette Design Store.

I did make one final project – so I can drive off in style:

 I have wanted to make this truck for so long and just needed the right occasion – well it is now.

It’s downsized by 50% so it’s pretty small and it’s make from AC Cardstock in Pine, Black, Vanilla and Latte along with Silver Metallic Paper from Tim Holtz.

The tiny nails are made from drops of Enamel Accent by Ranger and I used Distress Ink on all the edges and for the faux woodgrain on the rail.

I also added some gems on the front and back lights.

Instead of adding a pumpkin or tree in the back of the truck, I made some tiny suitcases (from the SDS Paris Voyage kit) These are downsized to 33% to fit the scale.

They are made of AC Cardstock in Robin’s Egg, Cranberry, Denim and Chocolate and decorated with gold pearl paper. I used Enamel Accent as nails also on these.

I chose to use a vers from the Goodbye song in “The Sound of Music” because it just fits perfectly and put it in the suitcase tag.

Now I can drive towards the sunset and think about a happy time on the Inspirational Team – trying to figure out what to do now. I will still be making SVG Attic stuff – that is for sure!

I want to thank all of you for visiting the blog  – without you none of this would have happend. It’s  such a thrill to know that people out there like the stuff you make and I hope that you will continue to follow along on my private blog: My Creative Hideout and/or on my FB page.

Warning: Not for the Faint of Heart!

My last Halloween post – this year. Going out with a bang or maybe a kill….so to speak!

Ever since the Spring when SVG Attic released the Make a Splash kit, I knew what I wanted to do with the 3D Bath Tub.

Knowing my evil, crooked mind, you would too….MUAHAHAHAHA

Halloween of course – but what does a bath tub have to do with Halloween?

Setting the scene: A woman is taking a long hot bath in the tub/shower and is not seeing the figure coming into the room with a knife in the hand – Next thing….she is being stabbed to death and blood spills all over the tub and shower curtain.

Recognize this scene????

Yes it’s the famous shower scene from the movie Psycho – only a little more graphic since it’s in color.

I really had fun making this and it did take me a while as I had to figure out how to make the shower curtain.

Using my scout-day skills (LOL) I tied some hibachi skewers onto a metal ring and covered it all with black flourist tape.

Then I added the curtain which is made from vellum and folded here and there to give the impression of a hanging curtain.

The Tub is made from AC Cardstock in Ash and with patterned paper from DCWV’s Spooky and Sparkly collection. I also used Silhouette Printable Silver Foil for the faucets. I created the top shower head myself out of the bottom faucet and some circles I stacked together.

I then painted the inside of the tub to make it all white and a tiny bit shiny. Once that was dry, I went to town with the blood splatter – using a brush and some red paint. The bloody handprint on the curtain is made from red vinyl.

The shower mat and the knife are both from the Silhouette Design Store (Knife: Design ID #116580 by Studio Ilustrado and Mat: Design ID #1565 by Silhouette)

I know this isn’t for the faint of heart, but it was so much fun for me to make and to able to actually create an idea that just pops into my head, is fantastic.

Haunted Funeral Coach

Hello, Happy Sunday and welcome back – so glad you’re joining me today.

The month of Halloween is almost at an end – Halloween is this Wednesday :-O Not much time to get those last projects done for the big day!

I just had to make this totally awesome Coffin 3D Coach Model that Jodi made. It’s out of this world fantastic!

It’s made from AC Cardstock in Charcoal, Plum, Caramel and Black.

I used the Rig O Mortise Funerals Vinyl Sign on both side windows. I cut them in frosted vinyl and transferred them onto the acetate with some tape.

All edges are inked with Distress ink in matching colors.

I also made the Coffin 3D Box but I played a bit with it.

I cut the “RIP” into both the box and the panel and backed it with acetate. I also cut small holes along the sides of the coffin, so light from a small LED light can shine through – giving it a spooky look.

The coffin is made from AC Cardstock in Chestnut along with patterned paper from Simple Stories.

I used most of a weekend to find the Coachman/Undertaker. I simply couldn’t find a sitting skeleton anywhere. So I made him myself by breaking his legs at the hip and knees and glued them on again with hot glue – rather morbid.

The coffin fits perfectly inside the Coach and looks very spooky at night with the green light oozing out of the holes.

It would also be awesome as a table centerpiece for your Halloween party – filled with treats and the coffin is also perfect for yucky Halloween candies.

Ghostly Candle Sticks

Hello – yes it’s me again.

Just popping in to show you these awesome new Candle Sticks/Candle Stands 3D for Display that just recently released in the SVG Attic store.

I made all three sizes and they are very easy to make. Only took me an afternoon to make these and just look how cool they came out:

They are all made with just Black AC Cardstock and inked with Ingvild Bolme White Chalk Ink.

I decorated them with some bows made from Ideaology’s Mummy Cloth and added some acrylic balls in which I added some spooky images made from Printable Acetate.

I got the idea for the balls from a craft video I saw on Facebook and thought that they would work wonderfully on the displays.

Too Cute to Spook

I’m back! Halloween is my month and I’m about to show you something that I normally do not make – cute Halloween!

I just couldn’t help myself – Jodi didn’t make it easy for me….ha ha

Just look at this adorable Ghost 3D Cubic Luminary. Isn’t it just the cutest?

I chose to make faces for the light to shine through on all 4 sides. There are 3 options that comes with the file but I took one of them and just turned the mouth around and voila – a 4th. option.

The Lantern is made from Vanilla AC Cardstock and the faces are backed with golden Vellum.

I inked all edges with a light brown Distress Ink and made the handle with some gold wire from my stash.

Finally I tied some ribbons onto the handle as a final touch.

But I didn’t finish with this one – I had to make the cute Cat 3D Head Model with Rosette (left out the Rosette) on top of the Box 3D Ten Sided with Lid Doily.

We are cat lovers in our house with three fur babies and this one actually kind of looks like Quark – our huge grey Maine Coon.

It’s made from AC Cardstock in Black, Apricot, Key Lime and White along with Bazzill Bling Cardstock in a dark grey and patterned paper from Tim Holtz.

I left out the tongue and wanted to make some fangs to make him look a bit more spooky, but it didn’t work out so I left him like this. Looks like our lazy cat.

I used some black and white twine as whiskers and tied raffia around the neck with a bow.

Aren’t they both cute. Just the thing for the kids

Tombstone Treat Boxes

Hello 🙂

Just popping in today to show these adorable and …. yes….cute….Halloween Tombstone Boxes from PaperClosetDesigns. So great for the kiddos Halloween party or as fun treat give-aways at school. Or how about making a bunch of them and hand them out to all the Trick or Treaters?

As you can see, they come in three sizes and for this project I sized them down by 50%.

For the smallest box, I used AC Cardstock in Charcoal and Black along with Doodlebug patterned paper – “Pumpkin Party”.

I found the Doodlebug sentiment in the Silhouette Design Store: Design ID #225981 and used the Print and Cut feature in the Silhouette software.

Finally I decorated it a bit with some Star Sprinkles also from Doodlebug Design.

The medium box is made from AC Cardstock in Charcoal and Black along with Doodlebug Design paper – same as above.

I also used the Print and Cut feature with the Spooky sentiment: Design ID #154771 and decorated with two black dots for eyes.

The large box is, as the two others, made from AC Cardstock in Charcoal and Black and decorated with Doodlebug Design Paper.

The print and cut Trick or Treat sentiment is also from the Silhouette Design Store: Design ID #229094

All three are very easy and simple to make and assemble so it’s a breeze making lots of them.

Luminary Skull

Hello – yes it’s me again.

Gosh I love this time of year!!! I get to use my wicked twisted brain to come up with some diabolic, evil looking projects.

Yes, I believe that Halloween should be scary and not cutesy. Not that there is anything wrong in cutesy projects for the kiddos, but when they reach a certain age (like me…29 😉 ) cutesy just isn’t fun anymore.

I always look for ways to make projects look creepy – the creepier the better 😀

That’s what I did to this awesome Skull Head Candle Holder from Simply Crafty SVGs – just added a bit more scary than was already there to begin with.

For this I used AC Cardstock in Black, White, Rouge and Chocolate along with patterned paper from Tim Holtz and some Grey Bling Cardstock from Bazzill.

I embossed the Skull panels with an Embossing folder from Sizzix (also a Tim Holtz I think) and inked all the edges with Distress Ink. I also added some black gems onto the skull layer on the bottom.

I added vellum behind the openings in the Skull and made the blood dripping down or Stearin drips myself. All I did was enlarge the dripping portion of the candle, cut away the top and some of the tabs and cut the pieces out (using scissors) a the scor lines. Then I glued the pieces onto the top of the skull using the top tab and voila!

I made the Bloody Hatchet in 50% of the original size and cut a small slit in the vellum behind the cracked panel on the Skull, so it could fit in there. I haven’t glued it down.

I know the skull isn’t too scary in the daylight but at night…….

…..Woah!!! :-O
